Windsor Campus celebrates 15 years of impact

It has been 15 years since the first students walked through the doors of Schulich Medicine & Dentistry’s Windsor Campus. Take a look at the impact the School has had on Windsor and region – through the stories of those who have been there.

Highlights

Cheaper and more efficient clinical trials

Associate Dean of Clinical Research Dr. Amit Garg received $3.4 million from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research to develop a training program that will coach researchers on how to conduct clinical trials more efficiently.

Establishing medical licensing in space

One of the many important questions facing the global community is around what rules and laws govern Space. A team of Schulich Medicine & Dentistry researchers are focusing on who can practise medicine in the final frontier.

Honouring Western’s first Black medical graduate

In 1957, Dr. Lewis Milburn became the first Black medical student to graduate from Western. Following his dream of excelling in medicine and military, Milburn left a legacy that inspired many people of colour to join medicine as a career.

Dentistry students help expand access to care

A partnership with Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry has helped Oxford County Community Health Centre’s dental clinic expand its services to better address the needs of its most vulnerable residents in the community.
