Post-doctoral researcher Michael Zanetti was on an expedition with a team from Western Earth Sciences and the Canadian Space Agency when he discovered a rock that turned out to be evidence of the hottest temperature in a rock formation on Earth -- a whopping 2,370 C. This discovery was featured by many media outlets including CBC, National Post, Smithsonian Magazine, and the Weather Network.
