A study led by a team of Western University neuroscientists debunked claims that getting better at a brain training game can translate to improved performance in other, untrained cognitive tasks. In addition to interviews with CBC radio programs in 13 cities across Canada, the study was covered by CBC News, the UK’s Daily Express, Blackburn News and Neuroscience News.

For the second month, research from Madalena Kozachuk in Western’s Faculty of Science, showing how x-ray technology can recover images on degraded daguerreotype photographs was featured in a wide variety of international publications. Coverage appeared in Smithsonian Magazine, Archaeology, Fox News and the popular science website How Stuff Works.

As the new provincial government took the reins in Ontario, media outlets across Canada and in the United States sought the expertise of Western faculty in analyzing its first actions and priorities – including shrinking Toronto City Council and its buck-a-beer announcement.
